‘The Tarot Reading’ by Mignon Warner

Mrs Kellar (Josephine Sowerby) arranges a Tarot Card reading as a wedding present for her future daughter in law. The clairvoyant, Madam Adele Herrmann (Edwina Charles) of ‘Little Gidding,’ has doubts over the wisdom of this as a gift. Thanks to information from her somewhat dippy brother, Mrs Charles fears that it will serve only to fan the flames of what was allegedly an accidental death in which the bride-to-be was directly involved, and which was actually widely thought to have been cold-blooded murder by Jo Sowerby and ex D.S. Roy Adams. Josephine Sowerby is found dead in Gidding cemetery.

The police believe she had a heart attack, Linda is not so sure. Going through her mothers things Linda Kellar finds the gift card. She visits Mrs Charles in the mistaken belief that it was intended for her and in accepting it, she sets off a disastrous chain of events, leading to two more murders, which no one, not even Edwina Charles and her nephew ex policeman David Sayer can avert.
