RelicsFaye Longchamp and her friend Joe Wolf Mantooth  take on a new job at an archeological dig to uncover the history of the Sujosa people.  Not much is known about the Sujosa who, like their ancestors, live in a remote part of Alabama, except for the intriguing fact that they seem to be immune to AIDS.  The director of this important dig appears to be incompetent, and work becomes nearly impossible when Faye’s co-worker is killed in fire that nearly claims Faye as well.  The death of a Sujosa youth  unites Faye and her friends with the modern day Sujosa to find out who is behind the deaths. But will Faye and Joe be able to maintain their longtime friendship when a new romantic interest challenges each of them?

Relics is an enjoyable read with characters the reader cares about.  Evans weaves interesting archeological facts into a fascinating mystery, creating a book that is hard to put down.  Highly Recommended.
