Cold Burn is the third in the series by Kit Ehrman featuring twenty-year-old Steve Cline whose dysfunctional family life has convinced him that he is better off working in Virginia amongst the horses that he is keen on.

When he is approached by his friend Corey Claremont to find out what has happened to her brother Bruce, who has mysteriously disappeared, Cline leaps at the chance as he has become restless at his present job and welcomes the opportunity of working at a thoroughbred farm. He soon finds himself undertaking the same duties that Bruce did before his sudden disappearance. Trying to find out what happened to his friend’s brother brings Cline into close contact with the characters involved with the breeding farms, from the owners to the churlish stable hands and their wealthy clientele. A number of suspicious fires also erupt close to the farm, which hinders his investigation. Cline’s digging brings up some rather unpleasant facts about his friend’s brother.

Cold Burn is an interesting book with engaging characters especially Steve Cline. Kit Ehrman certainly knows her way around a horse farm and horses. This is an easy read, which will be a delight for any horse-lover
