Carnegie Kincaid, Wedding Planner and owner of ‘Made in Heaven’ is currently organising a wedding on San Juan Island, for her friend Lily, who is about to say ‘I do’ to Michael Graham, the world’s most sensitive police detective.
The wedding is set for the forthcoming Saturday at an organic lavender farm. Coincidentally, Carnegie’s mother is dating a man called Owen Winter who has a ‘summer cottage’ on the north end of the island, and wants Carnegie to visit. Having met Owen, Carnegie can’t quite put her finger on why she is reluctant to take up the invitation, and while she’s debating the situation her not so silent partner Eddie Breen informs her that he has spoken to her mother and told her that she Carnegie will be up for a few day’s stay. When she arrives her mother and Owen are out visiting friends. But there to act as hosts are Owen’s two daughters Adrienne and Kimmie who don’t seem overjoyed at meeting Carnegie; in fact overall they are not a pleasant duo. The only welcoming aspect of the visit is Guy Price, who seems to be some sort of manservant.
Checking up on the wedding venue ‘Lavender and Lace,’ Carnegie picks up some undercurrents, between the owners Erik and Sigrid, but she is pleased with the beautiful location. However, a Kincaid wedding is not a wedding without a body and on an early morning walk Carnegie does not disappoint - she stumbles across one.
This is the fifth book in the series and resolves the cliff-hanger in the last
book, but I am giving nothing away.
