When Theodosia Browning opens her teashop in Charleston, her intent is to build the business and not begin solving crimes. Yet Theodosia's shop is represented at the prestigious Lamplighter Tour Garden Party, by her staff serving Theodosia's 'special blend,' and she is somewhat dismayed when Hughes Barron, an unpopular real estate developer, slumps in his chair, cup dangling from his fingers - and he is quite dead. Was it the special blend? Or was it poison?
Either way, it does not bode well for business and Detective Tidwell, in charge
of the case, lets his suspicions of Theodosia's involvement be known. Poor
Theodosia has no choice but to do a bit of sleuthing on her own. There is a
lovely sense of 'place,' in this novel, you really feel you are there and getting
to know the characters. For anyone who likes cozies that they are drawn into,
then this will be your cup of tea!
