Thea Osbourne together with Hepzie the dog takes a job house-sitting for the Montgomerys  in the village of Blockley.  On the face of it the job seems easy enough although it seems odd that the Montgomerys can offer no contact details whilst they are away. However, how difficult can it be to keep an eye on Mrs Gardner, Mrs Montgomery’s mother.  But Granny Gardner turns our to be a handful.  Despite an elaborate set-up to keep tabs on her comings and goings Granny Gardner turns out to be a full-time job.

 Thank goodness, thinks Thea that her daughter Jessica is coming to stay.  However, Jessica turns up with problems of her own, and then proceeds to find a dead body causing problems for Thea.

 A good mystery with some great characters., just what one expects to find in a Cotswold village.

 Caroline Lennon has a lovely voice, I so enjoy listening to her, and she greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the book.
