This is read by Lesley Mackie and what a marvellous job she does of portraying this work by Candace Robb. I think that maybe I have been previously put off reading historical mysteries by the very fact that I cannot quite get myself into the language, which lets face it is certainly different in 1297 as opposed to the 21st century. Lesley Mackie had me hanging on every word.
This is the story of Margaret Kerr whose merchant husband, Roger has been missing
since Martinmas. When Jack Sinclair, her husbands cousin and factor, who she
had sent to Edinburgh to find her husband, is found dead, Margaret journeys
to Edinburgh to seek out the truth. I admit to becoming utterly absorbed by
this mystery, I think that Lesley Mackie, with her marvellous reading greatly
contributed to my enjoyment.
