Read by Laurence Bouvard

While Tears of the Dragon might be a departure for this excellent writer, it is a most welcome one for readers.

Cast your mind back to the prohibition era of 1930’ Chicago: the Depression, Al Capone and gangsters and battles between the Italians and the Chinese. Into this comes radio scriptwriter Elodie Browne who finds herself involved in murder. Alongside a missionary priest, Father Anselm an angry and frightened Elodie is determined to find out what happened. Their investigations lead them to the discovery of a secret society of Chinese gangsters and into a world that is a lot more dangerous and mysterious than anything, she may have written for the radio.

This is an excellent story, which conjures up the era of the 1930s very well indeed. The description of the sights and sounds of Chicago are vivid and true to life. Laurence Bouvard narrates this story effectively, portraying all the various characters with ease. It is due to the excellent writing skills of Paula Gosling that we have a story that grips the reader from the start and it is due to the excellent narration skills of Laurence Bouvard that the reader is able to enjoy the story aloud. Well read, powerful and atmospheric, this audio version of Tears of the Dragon is well worth listening to and a delight from the beginning to the end.
