In this adventure Jack Reacher is tracked by the USA Secret Service to audit their protection of the newly elected Vice President. You may think that that, no job, no ID, no last known address Jack Reacher is highly unlikely to pay lip service to the Secret Service, and you would be right, but the person doing the asking is the ex-girlfriend of Jo Reacher, Jack’s dead older brother.
His audit uncovers several holes in the current protection of the Vice-President elect, and them Em, tells him the real reason that she has enlisted his help.
Accepting the assignment brings him face to face with his dead brother, and
in doing so we learn a little more of Jack’s past, and who he is, and why he
is. This is a great tale, one that keeps you gripped. The unexpected happens,
which has you gasping. Not to be missed, I was going to say for all Jack Reacher
fans, but may be just ‘Not to be missed’ is enough. As regards the reader, well,
what can I say, Jeff Harding is a marvellous reader. His range of voices is
astounding, bringing the characters alive as in a dramatisation, but with all
the background and description, that only a book can supply. Excellent.
