I have always enjoyed books by Lee Child, but Jeff Harding’s reading of this book, bought Reacher to life . So confession time, I often skip over description, but sitting in the car I just listened to the description of a fearsome heat in Texas, as described by Lee Child and I regretted how many times I had done this. That Texas heat came alive for me, even sitting in a car on a freezing cold England morning, and Jeff Harding has the most incredible range of voices that at times I was sure I was listening to a dramatisation, so distinctly different were the voices of the characters.
So to the book. When Jack Reacher hitches a ride with beautiful Carmen, he
has no idea that she is being watched by unseen observers and that her jailbird
husband is imminently to be released. Carmen has an agenda and Reacher is now
it. Reacher can never resist a lady in distress, particularly when it becomes
clear that there is no one on her side, not the cops, or the lawyers, and certainly
not her husbands family. Carmen is on her own, or is she? Don’t miss this great
book.
