BOT-C-Bad luck & Trouble ‘No one messes with The Special Investigators’  - that is the manta chanted by  Charlie the son of  their missing colleague,  but someone has messed with the Special Investigators, for one of them turns up  dead, and on investigation a further three members of Jack Reacher’s old Army Special  Investigators team appear to be missing..

When Jack Reacher is contacted by Neagly  he realises something bad is up. He and Nealy link up with two other members, and then start to piece together what had happened to the other members of what was a crack hot team.   But they are not as young or as on the ball as they were - can they do it?

As with all the Jack Reacher adventures, the pace is fast  the dialogue punchy and it’s a page turner.

No change with Jack’s travel arrangements - as in previous books when Jack checks into a hotel he unfolds his toothbrush and that’s his unpacking done. But I was interested to see that in this book, Reacher seems to have slipped a little - catching sight of himself in a shop window, he thinks that he looks like a bum. And for the first time he is short of money, something that has not happened in the earlier books - he has always previously seemed to have access to funds. So is there something afoot for Reacher - a lifestyle change maybe?

What can I say about Jeff Harding -  he is Reacher. He also has the impressive ability to produce female voices that actually sound like females.  Considering he has a strong male voice, it’s quite amazing.  More a dramatisation than a reading, but whatever, he brings so much to the book. I actually prefer to listen to the audio read by Jeff Harding than to read the book.
