A Poisoned Mind is a legal drama, a mystery and an examination of human psyche. The story is told from two points of view – Trisha Maguire and Angie Fortwell.

Hilary Neville reads the novel, somehow she takes the listener effortlessly into widely differing social cultures.

Barrister Trish, recently appointed QC, reluctantly takes over a brief from a colleague who has been badly injured in an accident. Angie Fortwell is suing Clean World Waste Management, who leased land on her Northumberland farm for their disposal tanks. These tanks exploded and killed her husband. She has no money but is supported by members of an environmental pressure group.

As Trish investigates the case, doubts begin to form in her mind. Was the explosion that killed Angie’s husband really an accident or the result of sabotage?

Trish has a half-brother, David, who lives with her. He has become friends with a troubled boy, Jay Smith. Trish wonders about the possibility of rescuing the delinquent Jay from his brutal home life but then his mother is found beaten and close to death.

A Poisoned Mind is an incisive novel, solidly plotted as we have come to expect from Natasha Cooper. Oh, and there is a good twist at the end
